Lust cat is always in the nude.

Actually, every cat is always in the nude unless it is wearing a collar, or unless you have somehow tricked your cat into thinking it’s a dog and should parade around in funny little outfits for your amusement. My cats will put up with no such nonsense.

Sphynx cats look especially naked, though, because they have no fur! You can see all the wrinkly flexible skin that every cat has underneath their fluff. Sphynx cats are known to be pretty outgoing, so they are not at all insecure about all that skin showing! However, they can get cold without their coats, so Sphynx cats are actually open to wearing some clothing come wintertime.

The pose is a reference to Sandro Botticelli’s painting “The Birth of Venus” in which the Roman goddess, Venus, materializes out of the ocean atop a clam shell, demurely covering herself. I kind of doubt that Venus would display such a sense of modesty, but such a depiction was deemed appropriate for a 15th century audience. This is approximately the gazillion six hundred and thirteenth time the painting has been parodied.
