Koi cat is not as coy as you might think.

Whose tail is that?!? I must have it for my own! Oh it’s mine? Well then, my job is already done! All in a day’s work for koi cat!

Koi, much like cats, have been selectively bred for quite some time to achieve a variety of color patterns. The price range on koi varies greatly depending on the size, variety, and adherence to variety standards – starting at something a commoner like myself could easily afford and going into tens of thousands of dollars for rarer and more impressive fish. It is said that the most expensive koi sold for up to 1 million dollars in the 1980s  – equivalent to 2.2 million dollars today. That’s some fancy fish! Cats are such affordable pets by comparison!

Koi are prized for a variety of cultural reasons in Japan, but anyone can appreciate their beauty and the tranquility they inspire. Cats are beautiful but I wouldn’t exactly describe mine as tranquil, especially when they are hiding halfway behind a curtain in order to claw through the fabric and bat at the tail on the other side.
