catknowledge
(verb) kat-NOL-ij

1. to sit somewhere within fifteen feet of, but no closer than three feet from, a new person, looking at them without  significant disdain to signal acceptance of them occupying space in your territory, and to remind them that they are being watched at all times.
2. any other action by a cat that signals that they understand that someone is physically present and implies approval of or at least a neutral attitude toward the fact this person exists.

Some cats are friendly and want attention from strangers. Some cats are not friendly and do not want you to touch them if they don’t know you. If such a cat can stand to be in the same room as you, then you are doing something right and deserve a little catknowledgement.
